Feed in Tariffs

What are feed in tariffs?

These are payments to ordinary energy users for the renewable electricity they generate, a scheme that pays people for creating their own “green electricity”.  The tariffs were introduced by the Government to help increase the level of renewable energy in the UK.

How does the feed in tariff help?

- Bonus payments for electricity you put back into the grid.
- Electricity bills are reduced, as you use the energy you have produced yourself.
- Receive a payment for all the electricity you produce even the energy you use for yourself.

Who are the Feed in tariffs for?

For everyone, including households, landlords, businesses and even organisations such as schools and care homes.

How do you start getting these benefits?

Coolheat energy systems take full responsibility for selecting, designing, installing and managing renewable energy systems under the Feed in Tariffs incentive.

Eligibility & Tariff levels

After July 15th 2009 anyone who installs a qualifying renewable electricity system is eligible to claim Feed-in Tariffs.

A renewable generation system with a capacity up to 5megawatts is eligible.

5MW is a lot of power; therefore all households and the vast majority of businesses are also eligible.

When can I claim the tariffs?

The Feed-in Tariffs went live on April 1st 2010, therefore any systems installed now benefit immediately.

The major benefit of the Feed-in Tariffs is the generation tariff paid for every kilowatt-hour of energy produced. The level varies depending on the technology and system size.

The feed-in tariffs scheme also provides two further benefits: an additional payment for surplus energy exported to the grid and a saving on energy purchased from your electricity supplier.
